Laura Zdychnec

Practice Areas
Laura Zdychnec has 16 years of experience and focuses her practice in the areas of elder law, estate and tax planning, probate, trust litigation, and guardianship and conservatorship.  Laura excels at building relationships with her clients as she provides a compassionate and personal level of service.  “The most rewarding aspect of our practice is empowering clients and their families with information and tools so that they feel prepared to handle the challenges they face.”

Professional Associations
Laura is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and the Elder Law and Probate and Trust Law sections of the Minnesota State Bar Association.  She currently serves on the Public Policy Committee of the Alzheimer’s Association of Minnesota and North Dakota, and frequently speaks to community groups and organizations on estate planning and elder law topics. 

Professional Achievements
Laura is a graduate of Iowa State University and Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota where she graduated 4th in her class and served as an editor of the Hamline Law Review

Before joining Long Reher Hanson, Laura practiced law in public, corporate, and private practice environments. She spent seven years as a staff attorney for the UAW Legal Services Plan where she represented seniors and their families in the areas of estate planning, probate, incapacity planning and medical assistance planning. In addition, Laura was an appellate law clerk to the chief judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals, a law clerk for a district court judge, and spent several years in private practice.

Personal
Laura and her husband of 28 years, Michael, reside in Maple Grove where they are adjusting to being “empty-nesters” (albeit with two dogs, Sam and Jack).  Laura’s daughter, Lindsey, is a psychologist who works with troubled children, and her son, Brian, is a U.S. Marine preparing for deployment to Iraq.  Laura loves being outside, especially “at the cabin,” and her passions include gardening, swimming, boating, reading, and animals.
