Laura Zdychnec

Practice Areas
Laura Zdychnec has been practicing law since 1991, and focuses her practice in the areas of elder law, estate and tax planning, probate, trust litigation, and guardianship and conservatorship.  Laura excels at building relationships with her clients as she provides a compassionate and personal level of service.  “The most rewarding aspect of our practice is empowering clients and their families with information and tools so that they feel prepared to handle the challenges they face.”

Professional Associations
Laura is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Elder Law and Probate and Trust Law sections of the Minnesota State Bar Association. She serves on the Public Policy Committee of the Alzheimer’s Association of Minnesota and North Dakota. Laura is accredited as an advisor through the U.S Veterans Administration.  She frequently teaches at continuing legal education seminars on elder law issues, and also speaks to community groups and organizations on estate planning and elder law topics.

Professional Achievements
Laura is a graduate of Iowa State University, and Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota where she served as an editor of the Hamline Law Review and graduated 4th in her class.

Before joining Long Reher Hanson, Laura spent seven years as a staff attorney for the UAW Legal Services Plan where she represented seniors and their families in the areas of estate planning, probate, incapacity planning and medical assistance planning. In addition, Laura was an appellate law clerk to the chief judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals and clerked for a district court judge.

Personal
Laura and her husband, Michael, reside in Maple Grove (with their dog, Jack). Their daughter, Lindsey, is a psychologist who works with emotionally and behaviorally disabled children, and their son, Brian, is a U.S. Marine on active duty. Laura loves being outside, especially “at the cabin,” and her passions include gardening, swimming, boating, reading, and animals.
